I-83 Project Begins:

Engineering and environmental studies began in August 2006 on the section of I-83 between the I-81 junction and Derry Street, to the north of the Eisenhower Interchange. Designated the I-83 East Shore Section 1 Project, it was identified in the 2003 I-83 Master Plan, as one of four I-83 sections between I-81 (Exit 51) and the New Cumberland Interchange (Exit 40). The I-83 Master Plan evaluated this 11-mile segment of I-83 that forms the eastern and southern sections of the Harrisburg Capital Beltway. (More)
